Final Review
Depending on our class size today, the final review topics/concepts will be evenly divided. You are to make a PowerPoint of your assigned terms. You simply need to place the term as the title, and write no more than three bullet point review topics. For example:
Thomas Jefferson
-3rd President of the U.S.
-First Secretary of State for George Washington
-Oversaw the Louisiana Purchase and Louis and Clark expedition
Once completed, print your presentation. You should change the print structure to Handouts. Everyone will receive a copy of all the printouts for your final review.
Lastly, it is your responsibility to double check that all previous agendas are completed. Grading of the wikis will begin tomorrow.
05/04/2010 Agenda:
You are to create a PowerPoint on the following topic: Pearl Harbor. Presentations should include at least four pictures and 5 informational slides(where, facts of the event, significance, results, etc.). Save your work in a page under a folder titled WWII.
04/14/2010 Agenda:
Using Microsoft Publisher, you are to creat a Newsletter depicting the causes for U.S. entry into World War II. This project should be designed as an informative piece for Americans as to why we needed to declare war. Place this newsletter in a page titled "U.S. Entry" and in a folder titled "World War II."

Create a page titled "New Deal." Write a paragraph description of the following programs: TVA, AAA, WPA, PWA and Eleanor Roosevelt. Be sure to explain why these things are significant and include a picture of each. Link this page in your "Great Depression" folder.

First, answer the question I have posted in my Great Depression folder.
You are to make a PowerPoint depicting the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. Your presentation should include, but is not limited to, the following information: location, cause and results of the storms. In addition, you should include multiple pictures illustrating the event.

The use of propaganda posters became common practice for many countries participating in WWI. You are to find four poster from the WWI era and comment on them. Only one of the posters can be from the United States. Your comments should include an interpretation of the cartoon and its intended purpose. Insert the images and comments on a new page titled "Propaganda Posters of WWI." Place this page in your WWI folder.

Your wiki assignment for today consists of completing a webquest from the link below. You need to complete one of the two alternatives provided. All answers to questions need to be completed on a new page titled "Webquest." This page should be placed in a new folder titled "Spanish American War."
Once you have finished this assignment, be sure your Panama Canal timeline is finished. Many links I observed were not working and many of you did not have this assignment posted.

Answer the question in my "Progressive Era" folder concerning Teddy Roosevelt.
Next, I would like for you to begin collecting images of the Panama Canal. Create a timeline with links to pictures depicting its creation. Once again, this can be done using Word applications. Save this in a page titled "Panama Canal" and in you "Progressive Era" folder.
Progressive Era(1890-1920)

Using chapter 17 of your book, choose three accomplishments of the Progressive Era to represent in the Smart Art(application of Microsoft Word) organizer of your choice. Your organizer must contain pictures and contain mulitple points(in text) of each accomplishment. Link your Smart Art organizer in a page titled "Progressive Reform." Link this page in a folder titled "Progressive Era."
Once this has been completed, you may take the remaining time to finalize assignments from previous weeks.

Era of Civil Solidification(1877-1898)

The Gilded Age of American history hosted the highest turnover of U.S. Presidents than any era in our history. Create a SmartArt graphic of presidents 19-24. This graphic should include their name, a picture and a bullet pointed list of accomplishments. Save this assignment in a page titled "Gilded Age Presidents." Place this assignment in your "Gilded Age" folder.
*Next week will be the last assignment before checklist #4 is posted. Make sure your wiki is up to date!

The years following the Civil War and Reconstruction can be identified as a time of civil solidification. This means that we were focused on reuniting and recreating the spirit of nationalism. This was done, by and large, through the creation of modern American culture(sports, shopping, forms of entertainment, etc). Your task today is to create a PowerPoint on the birth of modern American culture. Your presentation should contain 10 slides(includes title slide) depicting cultural fads(trends) from this era that are still visible today. This should be saves on a page titled "Culture" in a folder titled "Gilded Age."
Era of Reconstruction(1865-1877)
01/12/2011 Agenda:
1. Answer the question I have posted within my Reconstruction folder.
2. Using Publisher, make a Newsletter depicting the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. This should include a minimum of two pictures and it must contain a description of the event, including results.
3. Save this on a page titled "Impeachment."
4. Save this page in your Reconstruction folder.
01/05/2011 Agenda:
1. Add to your significant events page. The topic should be the creation of the Freedman's Bureau.
2. Add to your significant people page. The topic should be Andrew Johnson.
3. Create a new page titled "Civil War Amendments." On this page, paste an image relating to the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments. Explain what each amendment did and write about their significance in our history.
4. Place this page in a folder titled "Reconstruction."

Agenda for 12/01/2010:
Create a Newsletter(using Microsoft Publisher) on the year 1863. Choose three events from that year to include in your report. Multiple pictures must be used and three "mini" articles need to be included. These articles should summarize the event and focus on their significance. Place this project in a page titled "1863" and include it in your Civil War Folder.
Once this has been completed, be sure to finish your battle template from two weeks ago. Next Wednesday will be the last Wiki day of the first semester. Make sure all work is completed!!

Today you will begin completing a PowerPoint template depicting the battles of the Civil War. To complete this template, you will need to click on the link below. Once you have done this, save the PowerPoint to your J drive. Open your works page, create a page titled "Battles of the Civil War." Link the PowerPoint within this page and begin completing the slides. Be sure to save the page within a folder titled "Civil War."
11/03/2010 Agenda:
The following website will be used for today's Wiki assignment:
1. Spend some time analyzing the different components of the interactive site.
2. Choose three manipulations to capture and write about. Pictures and descriptions should be placed on a page titled "Lincoln-Douglas Debates."
3. Place your Lincoln-Douglas pages in a folder titled Civil War.
4. When you are finished, I want you to begin saving pictures of the Civil War in your student drive. We will be using these pictures for a future assignment. You may want to have some kind of caption to help you remember what the picture depicts.

10/20/Agenda:
1. Add to your significant events page. The event to be discussed is the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
2. For your next task I want you to imagine that you are the promoter for a fight(like a boxing match or UFC clash). Open up Microsoft Publisher and make a Flyer promoting the Mexican American War. Your flyer should have an intended audience(either the U.S. or Mexico) and should contain some factual information. Have fun with this, but don't make it crazy to the point of inaccurate or unrecognizable to the event.
3. This should be saved on a page titled "Mexican American War" and in a folder titled "Manifest Destiny."
10/13/2009 Agenda:
This will be your final wiki assignment of the first quarter. At the end of your task list is a link to the checklist for your second wiki grade. Wiki's will be graded this weekend, starting on Friday.
1. Open Microsoft Word and insert a SmartArt application. Choose any of the templates provided and construct a graphic organizer displaying the many compromises of Henry Clay. You should have at least three compromises he was a part of, the main components of the compromise and a visual for each.
2. Save this application in a page titled "The Compromises of Clay."
3. Save this page in a folder titled "The Coming of the Civil War."

3. Below the cartoon, write a paragraph explaining why Andrew Jackson was given this title by his opponents.

Add to your significant events page. The event should be The Trail of Tears. Remember, a picture and short explanation of its significance should be included.

Reminder: We will have a test over chapter 6 tomorrow. Today's tasks should assist in your review.
The following items should be completed by the end of the period:
1. Answer the question I have posted in my "Early Administrations" folder.
2. Create a SmartArt(Horizontal Picture List) of the first three presidents. Insert a picture and list 2 or 3 highlights of their administration(time as President).
3. Link this SmartArt in a page titled "Presidential Beginnings." Place this page in a folder titled "Origins of American Politics."
4. Click on the ReadingQuest Link in my Sidebar.
5. Print off a blank History Frame and complete it for tomorrow's class. The frame should be completed for the War of 1812. This will be part of your note grade.
09/22/2010 Agenda
Two things need to be accomplished today. First, you need to add me as a writer to your Wiki site. Simply put my email address(bdiel@cartervillelions.com) in the appropriate box on the right side of your Wiki site. Once this has been done, please make sure you have all folders, pages and links required in the first checklist.
Once this has been completed, you are going to add to your significant people and events pages. Make sure the new person and event are completed at the top of the page and your previous work(Washington and Yorktown) are saved as well. Your new person will be John Adams and your new event will be the XYZ Affair.

1. I will/have provided you with a checklist of tasks that will be graded next Monday. Remember, Wiki work is graded approximately twice a quarter.
2. We have a quiz tomorrow over chapter 5 and the creation of the Constitution. Your assigned task will assist you in reviewing for this test.
3. Your task is to create a SmartArt organizer(Vertical Picture List) of the following events/concepts: Articles of Confederation, Shays' Rebellion and Federalist Papers. A picture and key points will be needed.
4. Save this activity in your chapter 5 folder and title the page "Constitution Review."
*I highly recommend you print this for your own review as well.
09/08/09 Agenda:
1. Answer the Shay's Rebellion question in the "Critical Years" folder within the Navigator
2. Many historians have refered to the 1780s as the "Critical Period" of American history. Today's assignment will attempt to document and summarize some of the reasons for this significant reference. Open your Works page and complete the following:
A. Create a 6 slide(includes title) PowerPoint on images from the 1780s. Your PowerPoint should include at least 3 pictures and at least 1 political cartoon from the era.
B. Each slide should have the picture/cartoon centered, and a caption summarizing its significance/meaning below. There is an option for this type of slide in PowerPoint.
C. Save your PowerPoint to the "J" drive. I recommend you create a folder for U.S. History to keep your files and projects organized.
D. Create a Chapter 5 Folder
E. Create a page within the folder called "Critical Years" and link your PowerPoint here.
9/01/2010 Agenda:
1. Open the folder titled "Revolutionary War" in the Navigator section to the right of this page. Answer the two questions within the links provided. Your answers should be in paragraph form and need to have detail and substance. No one sentence answers!
2. Open the wiki site you created last week. Create a new page titled "Significant People of US History." Within this page, post a picture of Samuel Adams and write a brief summary of his significance to this time period.
3. Create a page titled "Significant Events of US History." Within this page, post a picture of Yorktown and write a brief summary of its significance to this time period.
4. Lastly, place both of these pages in a folder titled "Significant People and Events."
